Connect a printer to the Uboard tablet

To have orders printed out when received in the Uboard, you must connect a compatible printer to your tablet.

1. Select a compatible printer

The printer must have an RJ45 (Ethernet) port and be connected by Ethernet cable to the same local area network (LAN) router to which your tablet is wirelessly connected. Wi-Fi, USB, and Bluetooth connections are not supported for printing.

Here is the list of printers that will work well with Ueat’s Uboard application.

2. Set up the printer hardware

Remove the printer from its packaging and review the manufacturer's instructions.

2.1 Connect the printer to a power source

Locate the power cable.
Connect one end of the cable to a power bar with surge protection.

Connect the other end of the cable to the printer’s power port.

2.2 Connect the printer to your network router

You must use an Ethernet cable to connect the printer to your network router. Make sure to purchase one that is long enough.

Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the network router to which your tablet is connected. The printer and the tablet must be on the same network router in order to communicate with each other.

Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the printer’s Ethernet port.

2.3 Install the paper roll

Follow the manufacturer's instructions to install the paper roll.

2.4 Print out the printer’s IP address

You will need the printer’s IP address to add the printer to the UBOARD. Follow these general instructions.

Note: These instructions apply only to the HPRT printers. If using an Epson or Star Micronics model, refer to your printer's manual to print the IP address.

	Press the power button to turn off the printer. (On the Star Micronics printer, hold down the power button for 3 seconds until the green light turns off.)
	Hold down the Feed button while turning the power on.
	Continue to hold down the Feed button until a report prints out.
	On the report, locate the printer’s IP address.

2.5 Having trouble printing the IP address?

Make sure the Ethernet cable is securely connected on both ends. There should be a green light on the printer’s Ethernet port and on the router’s LAN port.
Make sure the router is active.
Repeat the numbered steps above. Make sure you continue to hold down the Feed button until the report begins to print.

3. Add the printer to the UEAT application

Follow these steps to add the printer to the UEAT application.

	On your tablet, open the Uboard application.
	In the top right corner, tap the Settings icon.
	Scroll down to the Printing section. Tap the toggle to enable Automatic print.
	Tap Brand and select the brand of your printer (Epson, Star Micronics, HPRT)
	Tap Model and select the model of your printer.
	Tap Connection and select Network. Tap IP address and enter the IP address from the printout.

3.1 Print an order to test the printer connection

	Tap the back arrow to return to the Orders screen.
	Tap Processed to view the Processed tab.
	Tap one of your previous orders.
	Tap the print icon to send the order to the printer.

3.2 Orders are not printing?

Follow these troubleshooting steps, starting with step one. If that does not help, continue to the next step.

Close and restart the Uboard, then repeat the instructions above to add the printer.
Reboot your tablet.
1. Close all applications including the Uboard.
2. Restart the tablet.
3. Repeat the instructions to add the printer.
Uninstall and reinstall the Uboard, then add the printer.
